Bridging the gap
As a person grows older their surrounding world may grow smaller over time: friends and loved ones are perhaps less able to visit, or have passed away; the person themself is no longer able to get out and about as before, or becomes heavily dependent on family and friends for their basic care needs. If the wish is, however, to remain in the comfort of the own home then St Barnabas can offer a helping hand in the form of respite day care, to give the individual a change of scene, or just some company, with the option of basic care support, whilst offering family members or friends a break in their regular care routine.
St Barnabas can admit up to five day care residents every day. We have a dedicated communal sitting room for day care residents and visiting family. A dedicated member of the care team will ensure they are included in some or all of the residential care home activities, such as hot lunch and entertainments.
Day care fees are charged on a per day rate, covering care support from 10am-4pm, with lunch included. Some basic care needs such as washing; bathing and medication supervision can also be offered.
